That is going to be a chore to modify.  The cam runs backward from the
crankshaft.  The aftermarket gear sets have idler gears to get everything
going in the right direction.

That´s the thing no timing chain, only a large diameter gear on the cam that
goes in direct contact with the gear on the crankshaft, like some hemi
engines I have read about.  And they are like forward gears in a gearbox, as
oppse to straight in the rewerse gear. I am not I am making any sense to
you, but I am trying.
I forgot to tell you that it is a military Chrysler engine from a armoured
carrier.

There should be a timing chain to connect the cam to the crank, if that's
what you mean.
