RE: thumping sound in motor

OK, here's another issue I've had in the past with a 350 Chevy (sorry
for the blaspheeming). I bought the motor from a friend's Malibu because
it ticked on and off and he tried everything to find the noise. He
installed a new crate motor and when I tore the 350 down, it had a
piston skirt cracked most of the way around on 1 side, which was causing
the ticking, but wasn't bad enough to break off. A new piston took car
of the noise. I'm sure your noise is more substantial than this, but I
learned you never know what's making the racket sometimes till you tear
the motor apart. In my experience it's something that never would have
occured to me (then again I'm 53 and a LOT of things don't occur to me
anymore)!!

Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. I.e., send parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the Clubhouse public address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
