I can confirm it!!  The chrome strip/trim with the snaps can be removed,
totally un-affecting your top.

We may be talking about the same piece. Mine looks like it's chrome
trim ~ 1-1.5" wide w/ a bunch of snaps for the boot. Can anyone else
confirm this trim does or doesn't hold the top down on a 65 Coronet?
