Re: Vibration on Acceleration

You can get a shop to fab up a truck shaft with a u-joint, and a "slider" in the shaft.
Not expensive.

It's not that the Ball and trunion won't work, but if we have to get a
new driveshaft, I'm looking at other options....How easy is the Ball
and trunion to transfer to a new Driveshaft? Haven't done this one
before, so I have no idea....We're checking the front joint under to
boot tomorrow....and some other points.

Feeling the vibration through the steering wheel is only due to it
shaking the entire car....and yes, the lugs are on. We have checked
the U-Joints and they are in great shape. It is only under
acceleration, but we may have found the culprit...the driveshaft....

Possibly the angle of the rear....We will be doing some more work on
it tomorrow...

If it does end up being the driveshaft, what will I need for the
conversion fro Ball and Trunion to the typical yoke? anyone have any
ideas so I can get the costs, etc?

Is it only under acceleration? If so, one of the things to check is
u-joints. A vibration under acceleration is a main symptom, but that
doesn't explain you feeling it in the steering wheel though.

No clunking noise that we hear when shifting. We did put the car up
within the last 20 minutes, turned the drive shaft, and heard and felt
a clunk about every revolution, maybe every revolution and a half of
the drive shaft. Sounded like it was coming from the
Differential....The drive shaft looks good....we are checking the
torque specs on the Differential nut....could it be the ring gear or
the pinion?
