Re: Top end response

Rich- It does sound like a carb setting problem. Does it pull good to your Rpm limit in low gear? But not in second gear? In second gear and high, the engine is working harder to accelerate. I have a suspicion it could be an ignition problem. Do you know if you are getting full advance?.Between vacume advance, mexchanical advance , ballast resisters and ignition boxes- it is all confusing to me...................MO

I'm pretty confident about my set-up as it was done by Gary P. It's all
his stuff. The springs were for the cam, etc.. I've done the valve
adjust a million times, almost, and it's to specs. I really think it's a
fuel deficiency. I'll know when I put in the larger needle and seats and
take it out to the track.

No, not necessarily floating them but more binding or just becoming

What kind of seat pressure do you have? Are you using beehive or
  standard
springs, do they match the lift of your cam? To tight of an adjustment
on
your valve lash. Unfortunately several things could be going wrong.
Are
all your components matching from same manufacture or mix & match?
Unfortunately it is a tough subject to diagnose over the web.

Do you mean as in floating the valves? I've done that on other engines
before and this is not like that. It feels more like when a fuel pump
fails and only allows a small amount of fuel to flow. I had a truck that
had that issue and I could run it but it'd only do max of 25mph, period.
