RE: Pete Jackson gear drive

jeff, i don't know about the big block engines, i put one in my 340. i bought it used with no instructions and called the company and talked to a guy who told me exactly what to do. they are VERY nice. the only one they make for the small block is the quiet one, i really wanted the noisey one. they make both for the big block. the small block set is not that easy to install. i had to drill a hole in the block for the mounting plate and cut a 1/4"?, i think off of the fuel pump eccentric so it does not cut a hole in the timing cover. i got it all together and it did not make any noise, i was bummed. thats when i called them again and they told me quiet was the only one made for the small block. but they said, look at it this way, you get an extra 20 horsepower because of the lack of slack from a chain. no one else makes them for a small block. the noisey ones do sound like a blower, personally i love that sound. good luck, jeff
