Re: What oil? Rotella T?

Fram really shot themselves in the foot when they started making a cheap filter for discount stores. . The competitors jumped right on them by cutting those filters into and comparing the famous frams to their better made product. I would not now buy a fram even if they proved that their top of the line was best.....................................MO

In the old days I would only use Fram filters. Saw an article a while back
that basically confirmed your findings. No more Fram's for me! Just like
Pennzoil, an inferior product with good marketing!!

If you cut a fram filter in half and compare it to "any" other filter, you
will find that "any" other filter is better.
A few years ago I cut a fram, bosch, mobile 1, ac delco, and stp in half.
It was laughable to see the lack of filtering material in the fram.
The mobile 1 was the best with the bosch coming in second and the stp filter
was better than the ac delco.
It is an easy way to find out if you are getting a good filter or not.
Synthetic oil is so much better for your engine.
Makes it run cooler, much better lubricating and lasts longer.

Any new opinions on the best oil to use in our old cars?

I recall there was some discussion a while back regarding
Rotella and
whether or not the formula changed. Is Rotella T
Triple Protection
still a good choice? Is there less ZDDP than there
used to be and
should some be added? FRAM filters?

How about synthetic? I think I recall Don Dulmage was
not a fan and
thought it wasn't 'springy'.

As always, thanks.
