440 crankshaft

I have a complete assembled 440 engine that does not have the pilot hole for a 4 speed input shaft. I know you can get the sealed roller bearing to make it work, but I think the input shaft end needs to be cut off. I don't want to do that. If I do use the sealed bearing -- does anyone know if the crank can be clearance drilled for the stock input shaft with the crank still in the engine? Facts please...Thanks............................MO
