Spindle nut torque.

When I installed my disc brake kit, the instructions said to tighten the nut to factory specs. The shop manual for 64 Dodge says 65 ft. lbs. That seems awfully tight to me. the rotor still turns by hand , but seems to much resistance. I thought spindle nuts should be tightened just till you can feel a little bearing drag and then back off the nut to the first notch in the casteel nut. Is my shop manual wrong or my reading ability messed up?..............MO
