Re: dash refurbishing

Ollie, I do have the 1964 Mopar Dupont color chip chart. It shows the right color in flat finish for the trim around the insides of the windows. , but I believe there is some texture in it for the dash top. Someone called it suede which is a good description , but my research says suede is just another name for flat no shine finish. Our local Dupont-Nason dealer is like all the newbies( O'Rileys) If it ain't in their computer - ya can't get it! Anyone eles have a finish for these dash tops that they like? (64 Dodge 440 body style)...............................MO

I just don't understand why a compendent DuPont Automotive paint store, with the correct paint codes off the vehicle, cannot mix the proper color paint. They had no problem with Petty Blue. We found it in a chip book. They had paper chip books from the 1920's on up in there store. Been in business since the 1920's, Ryan's Supply, Jackson, MS..........got to be one in your area.
Maybe I need to get in the paint business!!

I vaguely remember a name change now that you mention it. I never knew they thought so much of there product lately. I would try Car Quest or any COMPETENT paint shop. You will have to find some one who cares about it being right. Maybe they can scan it. Good luck.

I called these folks today . They have changed their
name as they are also doing paint for other makes of
cars too. The lady I talked to was very knowledgeable.
. She asked what I was painting, year and make of car, and
color of interior. She said it was a suede
paint, and would take a pint of paint mixed with a pint of
my laquere thinner, and told me the paint gun tip to
use etc. . Part must be clean and no primer needed if
the base paint was good. ----exact factory formula.
HOWEVER, that pint of paint would cost me $175 and take
about 3 weeks turn around time.
Pretty stiff for my pocket . I have the 1964 paint chip
chart from DuPont that shows the correct color- I wonder if
a paint store could decipher it and make it suede
look?? Any more suggestions? Thanks
