Re: Brake Drums

It may be that much where you are, but not here.
I never have had anyone that had that much pity for me.
My advice to you is, if you are looking for any advice, is get out and kick the bushes.
You are paying too much.

The guy must have taken pity on you and coated the drums when he had a big run of black.
The average minimal fee for powder coating is between $100 and $120.
I had a guy that was very inexpensive but he went out of business even before the down turn in the economy because he didn't charge a minimum fee.
 Just my 2 cents worth.

Powder coating lasts, and lasts.
I had two done by a local business that cost $20 per drum.
They looked great.
Find another guy.

Does any have any information on what the best way to
recondition brake drums?
Powder coating or some other type of paint?

I had a quote me $125.00 for two brake drums, his
minimal charge.
I am thinking of blasting them and using a clear or
metallic color.
It would be helpful if there was a manual that covered
all the suspension parts and what they their appearance was
from the factory. I guess that is the trade secrets of the
restorers.
Any comments would be appreciated.
