Re: Hemi info for display

Rich, there is a lot of information on the internet concerning the Hemi heads and their desighn. I don't know how much info you want to present, but I will breifly tell you what I think I know. The hemispherical combustion chamber (Hemi head) has been around for quite some time- before WWII. Chryslers use for them was in production autlos since the early 50's. The purpose was higher performance without high gas consumption. The racing crowd soon realized the benifit of this desighn to acheive very high horespower. ie: alcohol and fuel dragsters The early Hemis heads were installed on basic engines that used conventional heads. The high cost of production and the advances in wedge head desighn in big blocks led to the end of automobile Hemi engines in 1958. In 1964, Mopar released in limited numbers, A new Hemi head engine that was aimed directly at racing applications. Those Hemi heads were dominate in those years, and the rest is history.................................MO

I know this is the right place to get some help with a one page hand-out
write up for my SAC Museum head display. What I need is to make a sign
to place by the hemi head that was graciously supplied by Steve Micks.
It's an old 331. My purpose is to show what a hemi really is and to
compare it to the poly design and a old standard 272-292 Ford Y block
head. I have the one page write up from the BBC for the poly and have
been using that as a hand-out for a few years. Something similar would
be desirable for the hemi. Any ideas will be gratefully accepted. I bet
Bill Watson has a bunch of stuff!
