383 Update

So tonight I pulled the two lifters, took them apart, they look fine, but had old, dirty oil in them (and the engine has had synthetic oil for years changed often, it's totally clear on the dipstick).

Cleaned them out with some CCC, reassembled, put them back in, threw the rockers back on and fired it up with the compression tester still on #7. Now showing about 80PSI, but I put the lifters back in dry so they are probably still pumping up.

Shut it down, threw in the plug, fired it up, it's firing on #7. Engine never been so smooth. Nice even exhaust note, seems happy. Now the lifters may just pump right up again and hang the valve(s) again, will have to wait and see. If so, rocker shims should be a temp fix unit I get a set of fresh heads.

Have to torque down the rocker shaft to spec and reseal the rocker cover, then I'll take her out for a test drive and see how she goes!
