RE: glory daze

what I meant that the tires, brakes and suspension was not up to the task, but it was a blast to drive. The seats were not up to it either. Once I pulled out on the hot asphalt and spun the tires when it caught traction on sticky tar Wham! The car leaped ahead and damn near pitched me in the back seat, I remember my fingers stung when they were pulled off the steering wheel. Thankfully it also pulled my foot off the throttle.
And I would love to have that car back in that condiiton today.
But I am installing a 361 with a 4 barrell so it is going to be a little tamer, better for crusing.
The 440 is in the other car now, it's the hot rod but it also is being upgraded.

Very nice Ben!!  T\But too much engine for the car?? That was the whole point back in the 60's at least. I took a tired old 318 t/f out of my 64 Polara and put in a 426W 4 speed. Horrible gas mileage but a real -pleasure and thrill to drive.

Attached is a scanned picture of my Polara taken in 1989. At that time it had a recently completed rebuilt potent 440 engine, otherwise car was stock. Exhaust system was cherry bombs attached directly to the headers. In this configuration the car was an absolute blast, but the engine was way too much for the car. Over the next few years I stripped and tore the car down with the intention of restoring it into a race car.
If I had better forsight I would have left it the way it was.
