Re: Stalling

Jacob,

Bogging on take off may not necessarily be the accelerator pump; it
might be the idle mixture. When you're at cruising speed and punch
the gas, does it bog? If yes, it's probably the accelerator pump. If
it only bogs from a stop, it could be the idle mixture. If the idle
mixture is too rich, you can get 'puddling' of gas in the intake
runners which causes the bog. Then it gets blown out the exhaust and
runs normally.

You can check the accelerator pump visually. With the engine hot but
off, look down into the carb and move the linkage by hand. You should
see a healthy squirt of gas down into the carb horn.

This may not be the answer, but it's something to check.

The old olds look like they were put on in the early 90s lol. Today my plug wires are coming in so I can try that. I'm changing fuel filter too for the hell of it. Now it doesn't happen all the time...sometimes it's awesome and idles fine and launches, other times it hardly stays running at a red light and I have to fondle the throttle to take off. I was wanting to take a trip today but idk if I want to with this problem. Any help would be great!
