Engines {crate} used to come covered in cosmolene.
my 426 wedge was bought new in 64 and i bought it in 73-4 and was still coated with the stuff.IF your planning on long term storage,I'd go with cosmolene IF it's available,if not I'd use a good quality grease. Spray on's tend to disipate over time.Check a spray on very thourghly before trusting it to long term storage.Good Luck with what ever you decide to use.
