Re: Block Storage

At my plastics factory in Ohio we have used various products from a company called "Slide" you can google them. We use Slide products to store steel, aluminum, etc molds to protect from the serverest corrosion. Cleans up easily. Also if you send them an inquiry, they generally will send you a free spray can sample, enough for any engine block, heads, and more.

Dave,
Go to your nearest Sports store and buy 2 or 3 pitchers rosin bags. Throw them in the sealed plastic bag, it will take care of any moister that might accumulate in there. And it will, unless this is done. Just an added precaution.

Subject: Block Storage

I now have the block I plan to eventually build for my car, but it'll be a long way off from now (daughter in college).  I'm interested in your opinions on long term block storage.  My initial plan is to lightly grease the cylinders, bearing surfaces, etc... and then seal it in heavy plastic.  Some say this may trap moisture, but I think it'll help keep it out.  It will be stored in my climatically UNcontrolled garage in Wisconsin - which includes some heat and humidity in the summers and sub zero temps in the winters.  It's just the plain block - which is painted and looks great at the moment.  Thanks in advance for your input.
