Re: After Market Wiring Harness

Dennis,
We know that firewall connection is a weak point, that's why Chrysler went to the grommet design in production. If you are not concerned with originality, and it sounds like you're not, it sounds like a fine plan.

Hello,

I am working on the electrical system for my 63 Sport Fury.

Have any of you installed an after market wiring harness such as
Painless, Evans, or others? If you have I would be interested in what
you installed had what you think of the product.

I was going to repair my under hood and under dash harness and add
circuits but it seems more practical to just start from scratch with a
good fuse block and new wire. The bulkhead connector is too limiting,
it looks like the best idea is to remove it, install a plate and
grommet. I have cruise control and a security system. I am looking
at installing A/C and a Secret Audio unit, the number of wires that
will pass through the firewall is increasing, a grommet seems the most
practical.

I have already installed new gages and eliminated the ammeter and
replaced it with a voltmeter.

I would appreciate any suggestions.
