Re: Brake bleeder hand pump?

You start with the closest, so your not pulling air all the way through the whole system wasting fluid.  I never have been a fan of the suction types especially the cheep ones.  The cheep ones have cheep hoses that swell from the brake fluid and don't grip the bleeder well.  Your probably getting air around the bleeder at the hose, try a small wire tie pulled snug around hose were you still can pull it off and push it on the bleeder with resistance.  You also have to put inward pressure on the bleeder with one hand and pump with the other hand to keep air from getting around the threads.  When all is said and done buying a pressurized one in the first place will save you money that you spent on the cheep ones, time getting up and down refilling the master, fluid & agervation.  This is why everyone has a lot of friends with a vacuum type for sale!

Subject: Brake bleeder hand pump?

I borrowed a vacuum brake bleeder from a friend and I'm struggling
with it.  It's a trigger type gun with a plastic canister in between
the gun and the brake bleeder.  If I hold my thumb over the hose end
and pump a few times, I'm definitely getting suction on my thumb.  But
when I connect to the bleeder, I just get air.  It seems to me that
the hose connection to the bleeder is tight.  I have the MC cap off
just a bit to let some air in, but it's full of fluid.

Also, I started with the rear passenger tire, but the instructions say
start closest to the the MC and work away from it.  Does that make
sense?

Anyone have any experience with these things?  Seems simple enough and
I can't figure out where all the air's coming from.  Maybe through the
loose threads on the bleeder?

As always, thanks.
