I always use a little sealant when I install plugs, whether is a fresh build on the engine stand with metal plugs or when I have to use a rubber one for temporary fix. Key here is use "little"....more is not always better.
This is the ONLY gasket maker/sealant I use since they came out with it. Even though it says "silicone" it is paintable unlike the first siliconized gasket maker/sealant they came out with. I think it comes in 3 colors....grey, red and black.
