RE: Fuel Injection

Hey Mike,

Yes I've driven TBI vehicles but not MPI vehicles.  So I am going on what I've read and talked to other people about.  I wouldn't be going for a power set up.  I got enough power, I think.  I would be going for the reliability factor and such things.  I absolutely hate the fact that when you want to take the old beast out for burn on the weekend, you have to pump the ever living shit out of it just to start it.  Then you have to feather the gas for a couple minutes until it warms up enough to run on it's own.  Then its fun as hell.  But even on certain nights you have to repeat the process even when it's warmed up.  And as far NASCAR goes, they're apparently going to fuel injection either this coming season or the next season.  Curious to see how that is going to work out.  Might make it cheaper for us to put it on our cars.  Never know.

Cory,
Haven't you driven a TB injected vehicle? I don't discern much running quality difference between the two injection types myself. You won't find any significant power differences between MPI and a well tuned carb. Look at NHRA Pro Stock cars or NASCAR cup cars with their old carburetors. My 2 cents.

I've been thinking of doing this to my car for a few years now.  For the multi-port kit it's more like $3000.  For a TB it's like Gary said, $1000 give or take.  This begs a question.  Isn't a throttle body set up the same as a carb?  The only advantage with this set up would be it would automatically adjust for altitude and oxygen levels.(Air-fuel ratio).  If I remember correctly the power gain is not substantial enough to warrent that kind of money and time putting it on.  I'm guessing the way to go is multi-port.
