Re: pinging surprise

Yea it only does it on acceleration! I hve a vacuum gauge but I've never messed with it really. I tried to tune a crab one time and got so damn frustrated lol I couldn't get it right, and never did. Mike said he'd rebuild it for me I just never took the time to get it off, and ship it, I stay busy. But anyways, ima check timing today when I get off. I'll report what it is, and I'll try to see if I can get it to quit pinging. Im usin 93 gas, and it stopped pinging a bit but on hard acceleration it doesn't sound like it should. Like u said I'm sure it's a timing issue. I wish I could use that vacuum gauge right, the original motor etc runs so good now I'm sure with the proper tuning it's run like brand new except the thick oil lol

That's the perfect indicator of too much timing!

Well it only ever pings when it's in gear and the motor has a "load" per ce. It won't ping just sitting there, no matter how much u open the throttle.
