Poly 318 blocks are a dime a dozen and most people will thank you for hauling the whole engine away for free. I recommend looking around your neighborhood and talking to the local car club members as someone will have "boat anchor" that you can just haul away and may even buy you a couple beers for your trouble.

Bad news the major wear he was talking about is on the rear THRUST
surface of the #3 main, although the bearing surface of the block and
cap are a bit chewed too.

Are the oversize bearings oversized on the thrust surfaces too? Is
there a specific measurement for how thick the block and cap should be
at the thrust area?

Not sure how to proceed with this one.
