small blocks have the coil and distributor at rear of engine, and big blocks have them at the front of engine

Hi folks,

I have been working on the wiring for my wife's 64 Polara 500 ragtop
that originally had a 313 and will have a 383.

My question is: does the coil wire in the engine wiring harness stay
the same or does it get lengthened?  I do not have the engine near the
car and do not know where the coil sits on the intake as compared to
the small block.

Thanks for your help.
