Re: paint job

Paint job....you get what u pay for. The cost is in the prep. Maaco shops mix there own paint from stock colors. You are getting a close to color. They buy in bulk, henceforth they save big bucks in materials. MO is right on if you go buy gallon quantities of premium paint. It gets very expensive. Nason is Dupont by the way. As far as base coat/clear coat......I personally don't like it on older cars, I prefer a single stage. its what they had.

If you're looking for just a "scuff & shoot" you could talk to Maaco.
If you mask the car and do the prep work, they will shoot it for dirt
cheap. I just saw an ad for ~$300. Check with people in your area but
supposedly the paint guy at my local Maaco is a phenomenal painter and
does a hell of a job. Just my $0.02

hey guys, i went today asking around for a price to paint my car. Going back with same color, they are gonna take all the chrome off etc to do it, smooth out any bumps etc...anyways, seems the price is gonna be about 3500 dollars.
Does this sound about right or too high? i always hear at car shows how
these guys have super nice paint jobs and it only cost them like 1500 bucks.
