I frankly don't know the answer to this question, but I'm (purely)
guessing and will say it's possible it's just that the 3" figure was
loose speaking, the 3.07" is the exact. In the same way that the 318
stroke is said to be 3.31" when it's actually 3.305".

By the way, if this guy has any rear drums I'm happy to buy a couple
of pairs of them.
