Re: 65 Dana 60

Smile,,,,, a lot different than the original post on this, they are talking about a 3/4 ton truck dana 60 which would need housing as well as axles to fit it after cutting it down because it would now have 8 lug wheels on it

Yep I had a 3:55 geared Dana that I swapped for a 8&3/4. I was advised it'd be a better match for my poly build. The extra weght and size are not needed for anything but the most killer. I let George have it for his 4 speed 426 wedge.

I had the same conversation with Mike Buckel when I wanted to put a
Dana in my 63. He said "why would you want to do that, it's weighs
100#s more than an 8 3/4 and we has 8 3/4 diffs in our funny cars. I
put a '65 8 3/4 in the car. I have a 472 Hemi with 550 ft/lbs of
torque and I'm not affraid to throw more at it. My bussy had a 650HP
hemi in his 64 Belvedere and was running it with slicks on the track
every weekend and it took all the abuse.

Building a 1000+hp engine, yeah Dana would be the way to go. You know
the way it was back in hthe days, ma Mopar was over engineering stuff
for their cars, perfect example is the Dana 60.
