Dent from the inside does not sound good.  Especially if the engine is
locked up.  Did you try turning the engine in the opposit rotation?
My bet is, it will be apparent when the pan is removed.  A good engine
can last quite a while with just installing new rings and rod-crank
bearings........................MO
