Re: Wiring

I have the Ron Francis wiring kit. I don't think it really matters which one. The good factor with the kits is the proper wires and the colors and labels. Ron Francis was purported to have the best dash harness but you will find there are differences that must be addressed to make it work. It uses a GM light switch and a Ford voltage regulator. The best part is the superb circuit board that addresses about anything you could need. Directions are actually pretty minimal and I'd say a factory wiring diagram is a must.

I think I would shop for price...they are about all the same service wise. Figure how many circuits u need.
I have even build my own harness, one wire at a time. You just don’t get the easy identifiable colors.
I know Rich K. has Painless and Mike said EZ wire is good too. I will say I got excellent tech support from American Autowire.

I'm using EZWire, so far so good. Very much like the Painless but much less expensive.

Painless is good but American Autowire is just as good and a bit less painless on the wallet.

I was working on the '64 wagon today and it is pretty obvious that the wiring has pretty well had it. My son had issues with wiring while he was fixing it up and I helped him patch it up at the time, but a couple of years of storage has taken it's toll. And it's time to fix it up right. I do have a good harness but it is for my '64 Polara. I may try to find another (E-bay), but since this car is now my hot rod and I am not concerned about originality, I am considering using a new Painless wiring harness. Anybody had any good or bad experiences installing a Painless wiring harness in their car?
