RE: My heads hurt...

It has to do with the port design and the flow numbers at any given valve opening. The 915 will likely out flow the 924’s  with most normal camshafts that you would use. If you were to get a little more radical the 915 heads can be ported and get better numbers for sure! Plus keep the closed chamber design. If you had the money the edelbrock aluminum heads with the closed chamber design are excellent heads. And will outperform most of the production heads. Not all but most. And the cost is not that bad if you calculate putting valves and seats and guides and springs and all the good things that come in the new heads. Of course they are aluminum and that’s not factory looking and that may be more important. And I get that !!

Subject: My heads hurt...

I need some help.  I am trying to understand the differences between the stock heads on my 1962 Newport and the stock 915 heads from 1967.  I've tried reading and re-reading this http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/5115_cylinder_heads/index.html looking at all the numbers and stuff have given me a headach.  Are they basicly the same?  What's the differences?  Are the 915 a better cast than a 924?  Is there more HP and TQ you can get out of 915 heads vrs a 924?  I can run either on my car, I would like to know what's going to give me the best bang for my buck.

Thanks in advance
