Re: Mopar tapered axle rear brake conversion



Sorry - a little behind on my reading.  I swapped my '64 tapered rear 8.75 for a '68 8.75.  I used my 741 third member from the '64 in the '68.  it works just fine, and it's not a sure grip.  So I'm not sure what you mean - unless you're referring to a difference with the drive shaft yokes?

I would agree to change it to a 65 and also the 741 pumpkin will not fit in all 8.75 rear ends only the sure-grip posi cause it has a different thrust washer or something like that so you can't use a tapered axle pumpkin in a 65-later rear end unless it is a sure grip and yes the rear ends hold up but they are such a pain and to find a 65- later parts car with a good rear end is simple and cheap
