Re: vin location

I believe you to be correct.  In my opinion you can look at a body for a few key items and tell what engine trans came in a car without any tags or paperwork to tell you. The body itself will have all the clues you need.

RE: "...vin # off the core support or the panel between the rear window and the trunk." -- from Herb.

I'm wondering if this VIN location I.D. is correct for 62-65 Mopars or just for later 60's Mopars. My understanding, from Bill Watson, is that in the early 1960’s Chrysler used the Shipping Order Number (SON) to track the car from the initial receipt of the order to the point the car rolled off the assembly line. The SON is on the data tag, body (which also had model year and assembly plant digits), and broadcast sheet, but no VIN is found on the data tag, body or broadcast sheet.

Thanks,
Gary H.
