Re: Radiator requirement

I'll attest to the additive side of the equation.  I have a late model Challenger w/ a blown, bored and stroked 6.1 (426) and the only thing that finally allowed me to run cool (190) was Water Wetter. There are other products too, such as Engine Ice.  Now I will say that additives "thin" the coolant, (reduces surface tension) and can cause leaks in older assemblies.  I do not plan to run the additive on the 64 when done.  IMO for a solid street car, It's tough to beat a clean, well maintained, LARGE, 3 row, copper radiator cooling system with the correct fan and shroud. The shroud is essential for correct air flow and cooling.  A new/reconditioned Big Block radiator with the correct shroud should do the trick.

Granted..mine is a race car but with Griffith radiator...Mezziere pump it still ran hot...then voila! Lucas Super coolant did the trick...even with scorching 8k rpm runs only 210 degrees

A stock two, or three row radiator will cool that beast. I'm running a stock two row in a similar engine combo, with no problems at all.Even in stop and go traffic.Unless the Griffin is cheaper, I don't see the need to go to an aluminum radiator. As a follow up to this thread: I've asked all to have some consideration for the people on the list that are handicapped with a slow internet connection, and it seems to be over the heads of many, or either they just don't care.
Either way, this time it took me thirty minutes to look at the messages in  my mail box, mainly due to five shots of the same engine compartment..The radiator was hardly visible, so I'm not sure why a photo was even necessary, but that isn't for me to question.
The size of the photo wasn't that large, but when it was replied to four times , with the same photo, it took forever.
It seems I'm the only one to ever complain about this so I'm just going to "duck out", and leave the list for awhile.
I'm sure I'll be able to access my mail more quickly.
No hard feelings.
Merry Christmas to all in the group.
