Re: Pentastar

yes they do.  they are called "thread cutting nuts" I picked these up at napa, they are made by Au-Ve-Co. (auto vehicle parts company). I'm sure you can order on line  these are P/N.   AP2895 in the 12 piece bag for 1/8" studs. The only other thing i'd say is, if the stud is new (no threads) i assume you picked the pentastar up on line or a swap meet. If so it is probably an import and may be a little more fragile then the orig. part.  when you drive that nut on, go slowly, do it off the car first to cut the threads, use a little oil.

the other way is a "push spring fastener". these are great to install but they are hard to remove and, in most cases, you either destroy the fastener or the part removing them.  Good luck with your project.

Thanks, Mike.  Does the nut make it's own threads?  The pentastar I just got has no threads on the post - it's smooth.  I'm familiar with that type of nut, but I've always used them on a threaded piece.

Can someone tell me what kind of fastener holds the pentastar to the fender?
