Re: Welcome new member - 1965 Belvedere II convertible

Thanks Bob, wow hadn't thought about red interior. The interior I took out is black and in pretty good shape. It will go back in, in time. I restored the dash and instruments myself, not professional but pretty good on the cheap. I love the idea of bucket seats, did you put in a console as well? Then all you'd need is chrome gills for the rear quarter and you could call it a faux Satellite. ;-)

I have not restored my car.  I have basically kept it in pretty good repair but over the last 30 years I have pretty much replaced or fixed everything one time or another and now I am doing it all over again.  Parts that I have re-chromed now probably need some re-chroming again.  At great expense I have learned who does a good job and who doesnt.  For example, Mr. Gs plastic chroming service did only a so-so job on my dash and arm rest bases while Legendary Auto Interiors did a super job on my door panels.

Because my car is a Belvedere it came with a bench seat.  I converted it to buckets using 64 B body seats.  Interestingly, the bench seat tracks can be reversed and used for the bucket seats.  I found a correct 65 AM-FM radio that I had repaired, making trips a bit more fun.

Good luck with your car.  It will look real nice with a Legendary red interior.

Welcome Bob, I too have a 1965 Belvedere Convertible. I purchased it in 2000 and drove it home,

and to cruise nights for about five years, very fun car to drive, not many at the local shows.

I have sense taken it off the road for extensive repair and repaint. I wouldn't call it a restoration but

I am going back as close to original as I can. I'm currently in the rewiring phase....very slow going.

Once thats done maybe I can crank the freshly rebuilt 361 under the hood.

I'd live to hear about yours Bob.
