Re: Thinking of Adding Aftermarket Guages

Here is a photo of the gauge set up in my 63' Fury. The mechanical water temp uses a larger bung which will fit on the right side of most wedge engine water pump housings. The stock electric sending unit can be retained it it's receptacle and still be used. On a Poly Head engine you would need to place the bung in the bypass receptacle on the intake manifold. For the mechanical oil pressure use the electric sending unit receptacle, but you would have to add a tee fitting to also use the electric sending unit. I eliminated the AMP guage and use a volt meter.

As an added note I though this photo would be helpful which I took from the back seat. I don't know the last time any how of you older gentlemen visited your back seat but I had to put down my camera and lift my leg to enter the area I remember so well as a youth.

And Rodger Dodger I just want you to know that I'm honest and scored 100% on the Friday Fun Test. And just to show my honesty I failed the exiting the back seat area 3 times. I'm just glad no one was around to see it, LOL.

I added a transmission temp gauge, which I hung below the instrument cluster.  In order to dress it up a little I cut a piece of PVC pipe @ 2" long.  The inside diameter was a perfect fit for the gauge.  I painted it black to hide the white color.  I'll take a picture later today and and send it to you in a PM.

Wanting to have more data in front of me with oil pressure, temps etc.   Looking at the mechanical type but had a question concerning the oil pressure & water temp.  Do I just install the senders in the stock positions?  Would it be best to T off the stock locations to keep the stock gauge/light working?   Been doing research today and some people say just plug in new senders at the stock locations & leave the factory stuff off, others say best to T to have both.  Just wanted all your opinions before I ordered & commited

Thanks as always!
