Wagon rear door

Does anyone know how to get the rear door (hatch/tailgate) open when you don't have a key?
It's a 63 Plymouth Fury Wagon that needs everything redone pretty much. I managed to get all the seats down, climbed to the back and pulled on the handle but nothing moved at all. Is it stuck? Or am I missing something? Any help appreciated.
