Re: Welcome new member - 62 to 65 mopar fan

Cory,
My dad and mom were friends with the local Dodge dealer and his family when I grew up. We all spent alot of Sunday afternoons together. Of course "Floyd" always drove a new Dodge over to our house and after drinking beers and swimming for hours he always left in a burst of tire smoke! It was 1 1/2 blocks to home so it didn't take long. I watched 64 and 65 383 Coronets, a 426 street wedge(his son's car), and a 68 Monaco 440 Magnum 4 DrHt loaded to the gills with options among others leaving rubber trails on my street. I was born in 1950 and always thought it was 10 years too late, but I'm glad I'm not 73 today!
I bought that 68 Monaco for $250 in 1977 from the used lot at the dealership where I worked at that time. It had a timing chain that should have fallen off, but I still had it up to 120 mph on the way home! Ain't Mopars great!

Damn you guys who were around in the 60's.  lol.  I am so jealous of you.  You all witnessed the awesomeness of the horsepower wars and the unmatched styling of this decade.  Not to mention the fact that you could buy used 50's vehicles for a decent price and not worry about where to get parts.  Not like today where piles of junk sell for big bucks.  Example.  Recently a 69 or 70 Charger around here sold for $2500 I do believe.  It was missing it's front clip, power train, part of the interior, and the left quarter was pooched.  I wouldn't have payed $25 let alone $2500.  Anyhoo, welcome Jim.  I sometimes go off like that and you just might see more of it here.
