Re: Issue with suspension rebuild

I'm wondering if it could be in the steering sector or the idler arm. Have you observed them as the wheels are turned side to side?? You put new ball joints and A frame bushings in?.........................MO

I finally finished rebuilding suspension on my 65 coronet.  I must of done something wrong....  When I turn the wheel for some reason the drum assembly on the drivers side moves, makes a loud BANG.  I took a video of it, sorry it's towards the end of the video.  You can see the drum assembly tweaking.  Everything is tight..  I put the suspension back together as I took it apart, it appears that the tie rod end is too low and pulling up on the lower ball joint thus twisting the drum assembly.  Now question of the day why?  Only thing I can think of is to move the tie rod to the top of the mounting position but according to the book & how I the old came off it is correct as is..  Any help would be great!  I was going to get it aligned tomorrow but now I guess I am putting that off till I get this solved.

Thanks!

Tim

Attached here is the link to the video. The bang noise happens about 15sec & the twisting happens around the 23sec mark.
