Re: Rust fighting products

Bill,

I used to sell a product that my customers used back in the mid to late 1990's when I opened a media blasting company, "Imperial Stripaway', South Holland, IL. back in 1993. the product is called "Jenolite". It was originally distributed by a company in Youngstown, OH. and the product is produced in England were it is still the only product to my last recollection that  is used by their Navy to combat rust. There was something to due with shipping changes with UPS or something and the wholesaler did not want the hassle.

Then when the word got out several of my customers showed up at a show I was doing in Valparaiso, IN. and bought all my gallons and 500 ML bottles. You can find the stuff on the WEB at the home page of the producer, in England, but I did not see a state side distributor. I used to have people come by my booth at different shows to check the steel strips I used do demonstrate. After they had seen the strips of rusted steel that had no primer on it at anytime. In a year or more they showed no new rust of any kind they were sold. I still might have them, metal strips,  packed away.

After the final step of rust removal you can paint it with in one hour after the last of two steps to remove the rust.

They also sold a primer called Double Act specifically designed for the product.

Just so you know I have not sold or recommended the product since I used to sell it in the 1990's. I still have a few bottles I use on my current project.  They may have changed their instructions  and maybe made other changes and or recommendations in the last 14 years.

Best and only advise I have is to check their WEB sight out for proper information. What I described above is general recollection  but I never had a customer complaint.

I've used Eastwoods Rust converter, it turns the rust black then you can prime and top coat it. Loctite also makes a similar product. I also use products from KBS Coatings for frame rust.
