Yup - both 2 and 4 strokers run much better.

If by small engines, you are referring to 2-stroke, I bet they do….  In fact, running 2-stroke on E10 ends up with them not running at all. Evidently, it separates the oil from the fuel. I’ve seen the results, it’s not pretty. The tops of the pistons pit like crazy…

I run 91 octane with no ethanol in my Belvedere.  We're lucky that many stations around here (in WI) have premium with no ethanol.  The closest station to my house has it - about a mile away.  I also run it in my small engines.  There's no doubt that they run way better on it than on ethanol blended gas.
