Re: 65 Fury Speedometer Gearing

Thanks Scott...I'll have my brother (car's in storage) pull the gear and take a picture of it.

After seeing all of the replies I should have given more information...seems a lot of folks jumped to conclusions about the reason I was asking.

I have checked the speedometer is off by using my Garmin on a flat road under steady-state speed...at 60 on the speedometer the GPS shows 55 mph.  And yes I do understand the rim diameter doesn't make a difference on the speedometer and that it's the tire diameter that is the driving (no pun intended) factor for the speedo.

Thanks for all of the responses...please standby for photos.

Ron

The only thing that changes the speedo reading in this case is the outside diameter of the tire being used. You can have 22 inch rims, and still have the same tire diameter and the speedo stays the same. You need to remove the speedo gear, note the color and tooth count, length, and I should have a gear for you.You should drive beside some one with a digital dash and ask them to give you the thumbs up at 60mph and compare your reading. You can also tell us the tire diameter and gear ratio and final output of the transmission being used, regular 4 speed or O/D unit or a regular automatic, and we can do the math on a chart and tell you what gear you need, mrmopartech

I have a 65 Fury II which has been changed from 14" to 15" wheels...what speedometer gear do I need for the Automatic transmission (OEM, cable shift) and where can I get that gear?  Thanks.
