In my recent experience, it took (1) tooth for every 5 mph to correct my speedo. So you may need 1 less too than what you have in there. Real easy to pop out and look at and replace.
My ’62 had 17 tooth in it and read 10mph too fast at 60mph, ended up with a 19 tooth. The ’61-’65 gears are hard to find.

The current setup on my car is 215/70R15 tires, stock 3-speed automatic (727) and stock rearend with 3.23 gears. Speedometer is low by about 5mph (at 60 on speedo/actually doing about 55).
