Gentlemen,
As you may know, we are in the process of casting a new Air Gap 4bbl.
intake for the 318 Poly based on the successful HEMI manifold design from Hot
Heads (over 500HP at the Engine Masters Challenge) and I want to double check
the average hood clearance for our 1962-66 Mopars equipped with the 318 Poly –
the early 1956-61 cars seemed to have enough room for a tunnel ram!
It would be of great help to me to have hood clearance measurements based
on the distance from the top of your 2bbl. or 4bbl. carb to the underside of the
hood if your Mopar is 318 Poly equipped (although other engines may have similar
hood clearances). You will need to measure this distance w/o the air
cleaner assembly. Perhaps lay a straightedge across the top of the carb
throat and use a pillar of clay or loose tension measuring tape for an accurate
measure.
