Window winders

Folks,

This is a really small problem, but I need to solve it.

I need to remove the window winder handles on my 1962 Phoenix (Dart). I cannot find the sockets head cap screws which hold the handle on. They may be hidden under a small trim disc which one prises off with a knife or screw driver to reveal the socket. The disk may be glued, or it may snap into a groove.  I am  extremely wary of doing things like this, because i cannot replace damaged trim parts.

Alternatively, the handle may be attached with a circlip. Usually these can be disconnected by inserting a “slim bladed forked tool” behind the handle and snapping the circlip out. I cannot push the door trim in far enough to see if it has this system or what size it could be.

Can anyone tell me which system I would have, and if it the “bladed forked tool” what is the opening dimension. I can make one out of 16 gge plate.

regards.
Colin Wolf
