Re: intake manifold Mopar big block install?

When was the book written, they played with a couple of redesigns years back in the 80s, probably about the time the book came out? I remember they played with a new design for a while, it was a three piece combination of a metal valley pan without intake, with fiber intake pieces sealed and stapled together as one unit. They tended to leak oil at the four corners worse than the factory pans and finally just dropped. They also had one with a rubber like coating on the intake part, and if I remember had issues at the exhaust crossover melting and burning out. They also had a set like Dodger referenced but I think oil leaks are a problem with them. All they sell now days to my knowledge is as Ma MoPar originally intended.

Just a guess here,,,,, new gasket sets come with a 4 fiber gaskets that can be used with the old metal valley cover , if using a new (metal) valley cover you do not use the fiber ones that come with the gasket set

This is step one in installing the intake manifold on a Mopar big block. Can someone explain what the "new valley cover gasket style" means and, therefore, what the old valley cover gasket style was?
