The old man told me he would go $75 for a car for me to have ready when I got my license.  I was 15.  There were two used car lots across the street from each other.  One lot had a '55 Chevy 2 door sedan with a 265 and 3 on the tree.  $125 which sure seems like a heck of a deal now.  I could not talk the guy into taking payments from my gas station job for the $50 balance.  The other lot had a '58 Savoy 4 door sedan, flattie six and also 3 on the tree.  $75.  That one went home with me and I've been Mopar ever since.  Yeah I drove it home in front of the old man in his '56 Windsor so hopefully I wouldn't get stopped.  For Christmas he gave me a Fenton Roger 300 floor shift conversion.  I won my first drag race, against a '55 Chevy with a six and three speed, and that shifter made the difference.
