Re: Trans adjust discovery

My trans came out of the '65 Plymouth belonging to Michael Harding of Street Legal TV.  It was missing the output shaft, thanks Steve Longo for the replacement, and the neutral safety switch.  The trans had been out for awhile and these parts were misplaced.

Dodger's old friend at Nebr Whsl Trans did supervised the re-build.  He is an "old school" guy and did my original trans for me too.

The FSM does have the procedure which I have always used. BUT you have to remember that if you change the components the FSM is no longer correct. I needed a 1965 FSM for trans adjust now for my '64 Dodge.  It should be ok now after I re-adjust according to the new method.  And the last time I adjusted the trans with the pan off so I could see the positioning.  I also use an ohm meter to test for continuity with the NSS.  That's easier than a test light as no outside power is required.

The bottom line is that this should make it right.

I was looking through my myriads of info I have printed off and found an old post from Wally Breer in May, 2004.  It's on the trans adjust procedure for a '65 727.  I haven't been able to get my trans right yet and this should be the answer.  To adjust the '62-'64 you use the rev button whereas with the '65 you use the low button.  Maybe I'll have some better luck now with it!!!

After installing the '65  trans in my '64 Polara I never thought about any difference in the adjust procedure.  Thank you Wally Breer wherever you are.
