Re: Trans adjust discovery

My 2 cents:  I have used the FSM method, test light method, Ohm meter method, and eyeball method.  What I found was that there is a little inaccuracy in the shift cable mechanism.  If you line up the neutral detent with the neutral safety switch by eye it will be close.  However you need to use the push buttons to shift the mechanism a few times to see where things will "land".  Most of the time it will be off slightly.  You can then use the wheel to fine tune things.  An analog type Ohm meter is then helpful because it will show if you are slightly off by showing varying levels of resistance as you adjust it in and out.  The test light will work this way as well with the light getting brighter or dimmer as you home in on the sweet spot and the neutral safety switch makes good contact.

I was looking through my myriads of info I have printed off and found an old post from Wally Breer in May, 2004.  It's on the trans adjust procedure for a '65 727.  I haven't been able to get my trans right yet and this should be the answer.  To adjust the '62-'64 you use the rev button whereas with the '65 you use the low button.  Maybe I'll have some better luck now with it!!!

After installing the '65  trans in my '64 Polara I never thought about any difference in the adjust procedure.  Thank you Wally Breer wherever you are.

That is, email your parts/car transactions and negotiations, as well as other personal messages, only to the intended recipient. Do not just press "reply" and send your email to everyone using the general '62-'65 Clubhouse public email address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine-tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
