Re: Ignition system

Hi Doug

I just finished converting to electronic ignition from point type distributor on my '63 Sport Fury 383 cu in. At the same time, I replaced the wires with Moroso "Blue Max" 8 mm wires. My Fury has factory air and cast iron exhaust manifolds. I wanted the wires off of the valve covers to keep a clean look, so length was a challenge  (as was routing the wires). The Moroso wires fit well, had traditional boots at the dist. cap end and 90 deg at the plug end. I also found that they make a 2 wire replacement package for that series wire that includes two 55" long wires, with a straight and 90 deg  boots at opposite ends, and they send you two distributor end connectors and boots so you can tailor to your needs without buying a whole set........ not that anyone would ever burn up a plug wire....... I'll try to get some pics posted.

Good luck
Lyle

Hey all,
Time to start a new "which is better" debate.
I'm going to put new plugs and wires on the 63 before I dig into carb tuning.
So, I'm going to ask all you fine tuners out there what you suggest for plugs and wires on my car.
It's a '68 383 out of a Road Runner.  It has a purple shaft cam, (284/484 ??) and dual exhaust, with an Eddelbrock 800 Performer carb.  Still on cast iron intake and iron exhaust manifolds. It has a Mopar electronic ignition system with an orange box. Rest of the engine is stock.
Has Champ RJ14YC plugs in it now, but wondering with the available gas these days if a hotter range might be better??
Street use.
What say you ??
